Block of flats

This project was developed by Ramón López González as a student from Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de A Coruña (ETSAC) and was submited to the WAS awards 2017 under the Residential category.

It is planned to project an eight-storey building with lower floors and a commercial basement. It is a plot between two small narrow streets that limit the lighting and the views. In front of the classic residential building project, where all the space is used for residences, this unconventional proposal arises, in which the creation of a series of housing modules, and their arrangement in the block, allow generating a series of common spaces of relationship. At the same time there are openings in the facades that allow the lighting and natural ventilation of these. The configuration of the stair in a set of boxes isolated and connected to each others, but outside the corridors of each floor, gives this space a feeling of amplitude and freedom uncommon in this building typology. The setback on the ground floor of the volume, allows the lighting of the basement, in addition to the creation of a small garden and an outdoor space, in which the appearance of a series of trees transmit us a sensation that we usually never perceive, as observe the trees from above and walk next to his treetop.
