Houses and clinic for thermal theray in Ourense

This project was developed by Ramón López González as a student from Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de A Coruña (ETSAC) and was submited to the WAS awards 2017 under the Housing category.

Next to the Barbaña river in Orense, two single-family homes are planned over a thermal treatment clinic. Located in a narrow street that does not allow the river to be seen from any point, the project is articulated like a patella of the street, through the volumetry of the proposed pieces it assimilates and directs the directions of the adjoining facades, creating at the same time a public space that opens to that natural environment of the Barbaña River that we were losing. The square works at different scales, starting from a function as a public space, it also functions as a focus for access to the clinic, and as an access point for both houses. These two houses appear as flown elements generated from a minimum ground floor on which rests a second of larger dimensions that grows on the square.
