Open residential block on the park

This project was developed by Michele Moliteo as a student from SDS Architettura Siracusa and was submited to the WAS awards 2017 under the Residential category.

The project stems from the desire for a REQUALIFICATION and URBAN REGENERATION of an important part of the city of Syracuse. The goal is the formation of a new URBAN HALL that acts as an entrance to the city. Without the necessary analysis S.W.A.T. the portion of the city has moved on to a specific intervention consisting in the design of multifunctional buildings open on one side towards the park and on the other towards the sea, thus creating a strong urban-nature-sea relationship.

As explained in the presentation table the project insists on 4 different themes:

  • the loggia as a filter element that is confronted on one side towards the park, on the other towards the sea;
  • the relationship with the park, whose goal is to generate a space with strong naturalistic connotations and closely linked to the buildings (as shown by the permeability of the ground floor of the buildings);
  • the architectural theme is that of breaking up the structure into two different types: the skin has been designed as a hard and strongly material shell, while the inner part is open and permeable.

The buildings have both a residential and a commercial function, in fact, commercial basses have been inserted.

In addition, common recreational spaces have been added that can be used by condominiums.
