Reconstruction of historical building

This project was developed by Dmitry Zinenkov as a student from SPSUACE and was submited to the WAS awards 2017 under the Residential category.

The task was to reconstruct and redevelop the building in the historical center of St. Petersburg and to build a new house instead of the abandoned stables located on the site. The building forms the corner part of the block at the intersection of the embankments of the Fontanka river and Kryukov canal. It is an important element of the historical development that forms panoramic views of the city. The new building was decided to make the most neutral in the daytime, and a bright dominant at the  in the evening. Therefore, the facade is made of light coloured perforated panels that allows the building disappear in the daytime. But in the night it begins to pass the light from the interior, that reflects on the water. This allows the construction to fit into the surrounding building and in the same time be an important part of public life. During the redesign of interiors of the historical building it was necessary to save the certain rooms that marked with blue color. So big appartment had been devided on severeal flats. And the first floor was redesigned for the commercial premises
