Residence in Chania with guesthouse and working place

This project was developed by George Lountzis as a student from Technical University of Crete and was submited to the WAS awards 2017 under the Housing category.

The course focuses in the study of a hybrid model of housing, which includes permanent residence and spaces relevant with the modern significance of hospitality. In the synthetic level we investigated: the relation with the wider built-up environment, the spaces, the relation (interdependence-autonomy) of the residence and the other uses, the significance of  permanent and ephemeral, the reflectionbetween them in the level of typology. The idea and the provision of the project resulted from an organization and analysis of a canvas. The final plan of the project seems like a tetris game. In the ground floor of the residence, the dining and the living room take place while in the first floor we organised the rooms and the leisure spaces. The main residence, the guesthouse and the working place are organised perimetrically of the main yard. The two parts of the main residence they connect by a glass corridor.
