YACHT CLUB IN SAINT-PETERSBURG

This project was developed by Vladimir Balasanyan as a student from Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts and was submited to the WAS awards 2017 under the Facilities category.

The building of this yacht club can be divided into three zones: a training center, a hotel complex and a meeting hall. The composition of the building is constructed based on this stucture. The training area of the yacht club is made up of volumes resembling container blocks, it has a sculptural composition. Contrary, the hotel complex has a flat stone facade, a contrast with the training center. The meeting hall is a transition area from the training zone to the hotel complex and it has two functions: the convenience of communication, as well as symbolic function denoting the significance of this space. The arch formed by such an arrangement of parts of building, performs an important town-planning function, focusing on the view of the bay and the port opposite. Also, thanks to the arch, the perspective from the canal to the bay is open.
